The faster these molecules move the more heat energy is generated. It is the heat energy generated by vibrating or moving molecules within the substance. Thermal energy can be defined as the energy a system or substance has due to its temperature. The main concept is that heat is an energy form corresponding to a definite amount of mechanical work.
